London Wasps sign Bassett from Bedford Blues

Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the London Wasps have confirmed the signing of Josh Bassett, the 21 year old winger from the Rugby Football Union Championship side the Bedford Blues ahead of the new season and the player will join up with the London side once The Wasps start their pre-season training ahead of the 2013-14 season. Dai Young, the Director of Rugby of the side is looking to strengthen the side ahead of the new season and has already made a string of signings, most of which are young players.

And Young believes these young players, coupled with a few experienced heads, is the right formula to take the side forward and once again challenge for the major titles, both at home and in Europe after spending several years in the doldrums. And the 21 year old Bassett has been in fine form this season, scoring 11 tries and even being called into English Under-20 side, drawing attention of several major teams before the London Wasps won the race for his signature.

According to Dai Young, Josh is a player who is an absolute perfect fit for what the club is trying to achieve. He went on to add that the player is quite young and he has a lot of ambition and he will be the perfect addition to the squad already in place. Young mentioned that he expects the player to have a huge future with the club.

Mike Rayer, the Bedford Blues boss is also elated the youngster is making the move to the big league with the London Wasps, stating that everyone at the club is excited about the prospect of the player playing for one of the biggest clubs in England and has extended the best wishes of the club for his future.
