London Wasps add two new players to the squad

Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the London Wasps has added two new players in the form of Stuart Commins and Charlie Hayter to their roster as they look to add more strength in depth to the squad.

Commins plays as a scrum half and had been on the books of The Wasps’ Premiership rivals the Northampton Saints and had also made 17 first team appearances for The Jimmies this current season before making the switch to the English capital. Hayter, a centre, on the other hand, had been with the Rugby Football Union Championship side Moseley.

Speaking on the new signings, Director of Rugby of the London Wasps Dai Young stated that these were two positions where they needed to add depth, particularly after the club lost two centres in the form of Andrea Masi as well as Elliot Daly.

The Wasps will lose thes to players to international duty for much of the coming weeks and with Lee Thomas sidelined from the squad with a long term injury, adding a centre to increase the depth of the squad was important and the signing of Commins goes a long way towards that.

He went on to state that Charlie Hayter had been absolutely fantastic for his former club at the Rugby Football Union Championship and the club is eager to see how he makes the transition from the Championship to the Premiership.

The Wasps will miss Joe Simpson who is on duty with the England Saxons for the coming weeks and coupled with the fact that the team has not been able to replace Nic Berry who hung up his boots last season, the signing of Commins and Hayter will prove to be a masterstroke for the London Wasps considering the side is struggling with options at centre and scrum half.
